Next day and first dive was at Koh Tachai again with high expectations for what we might see. The shark was still hanging around and so were the barracuda. The visibility was amazing, and we could hardly believe it when literally out of the blue a few groups were lucky enough to see a little whale shark! A truly amazing sight; he was about 3.5-4 meters long for a fish that grows up to 10-12 meters, so just a baby. He didn’t hang around too long, came from the second pinnacle and went right over the top of the dive site before disappearing off again with a lot of happy divers in his wake.
The rest of the day consisted of three dives on Richilieu Rock. It was absolutely covered in fish, nudibranch, and especially the soft coral and anemones. Everyone on the boat was really enjoying the festive cheer (I hope) and most importantly all the food we were getting. By the end of the day there was a certain mix of exhaustion and elation in the air.
The final morning is always a bittersweet one. After two great dives we returned back to the dive shop we said our final goodbyes and everyone got on their merry way. Thanks again to everyone who came out and made this an extra special trip and a really amazing way to wrap up 2013. Happy New Year Everyone!
