Manta Queen 3 # 191 - Whaleshark at Boon Sung Wreck

You begin to run out of adjectives when describing how amazing a trip to The Similan Islands is and voyage 191 aboard The Manta Queen 3 was no different. Setting off into the night we began with a thorough briefing from our Cruise Director, Joe, and after all the introductions and the blessing of the boat were done, we settled in for the night.

The First day’s diving at Anita’s Reef, West of Eden and Elephant Rock brought thousands of schooling Glass Fish along with different kinds of Box, Puffer and Unicorn Fish. We ended the day with a fantastically fun night dive that brought out hunting Morays, Lion-fish, Blue Spotted Rays and all kinds of Crustaceans such as Rock Lobster and Box Shrimp, whose eyes stood out when met with our torch lights.

Day Two began at North Point where granite cliffs created epic overhangs and swim-throughs for adventurous divers to experience. At Koh Bon West Ridge, schools of Emperor Fish, Travelly and Rainbow Runner’s made for an awesome spectacle as they moved in sync over the reef while on the hunt. Some spotted White and Black Tip Reef Sharks during their safety stop to say goodbye as we rounded off the days diving.

On Day Three, Koh Tachai Island gave us a great learning experience in navigation while Giant and Banded Morays along with Peacock Mantis Shrimp lay hidden away from the current. As we moved onto the world famous Richelieu Rock, we spotted Pipefish, Sea-horses, Sea-snakes and a pairs of Cuttlefish.

On the final day of the trip, we ended on Boonsung Wreck where a Whale Shark greeted us as we arrived. What a perfect way to end an amazing trip.

The Manta Queen 3 also graduated new PADI Open Water, PADI Advanced Open Water and Nitrox Divers. Congratulations to Johannes for completing his Open Water and to Yuriy, Roman, Johanna, and Tom for completing BOTH their Open water and PADI Advanced Open Water Course, Impressive!

Guy, Jens, Vishal also joined the Advanced Open Water club and can go all the way to 30m as well. Angela, Joel, Guy, Achin, Alain, Francine, and Vishal all became Nitrox certified. We wish them best of luck and happy diving for the future and hope they will join us again for future courses and even more epic adventures.

And so we wrap up another successful trip with stacked log books and wide smiles and hope you too will be joining us on our next trip. But don’t worry if The Manta Queen 3 isn’t able to fit your schedule because Khao Lak Scuba Adventures has 6 boats with trips leaving every day so get in touch and we will find the holiday thats suited to you.

See you soon at the Similan and Surin Islands!
